I work for Bell, in a call center, it's a horrible job. Can't really quit and find a new one because I have people in my life that I have to, and want to, take care of. But here, the management is poorly educated/trained to say the least, they're insensitive, over-demanding, emotionless, and arrogant. The company itself has almost NO human factor, we're just "bodies" in seats. People are even fired because they don't meet the sales quotas. In essence, the company doesn't care how you treated your customer, as long as you made it quick and got a sale out of it. People here are angry, tired, emotional wrecks. But I doubt anything will change in the near future. It costs too much money to care apparently.

The hiring process for a call center agent is one of the most important aspects of managing a call center. We use special tools to help our managers understand the strengths of an applicant. We never want to hire a person just becuase we need to put a body in a call center seat. That never helps the client, our company or the person that we hired.

Great blog. The call center industry is booming, and many job applicants want a piece of the pie. However, they can't get into the industry unprepared, so blogs from experienced agents like you will be really helpful to them. Keep it up!
