Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work in a support group? Let me paint you a picture.
For a year and a half, breathing the experience of the call center industry has been a joy ride. I’m sure I’m not the only person that has stepped in the scene; there are many of you who are virgins to this industry. To you I say, welcome to the club! For those of you who are veterans, I salute you in staying and believing in this industry that can make a difference in our country. Moving forward…
We make sure YOU come first, and…WE give the utmost attention to our clients currently or interested in doing business with us. The point is…client or not, YOU come first. So just remember, when you see any of us…it wouldn’t hurt to say “hi” or at least smile.
The next people you would see on the floor are the maintenance people. They wear light blue collared shirts and dark navy pants as their uniform. It doesn’t have to take a genius to know what they do…they clean up our mess. But, did it ever occur to you that we can also do the same? For instance, for all you smokers in the company…we have trash cans and ash trays. Does it hurt to throw your wrappers in the proper area? It doesn’t even have to take an ounce of your energy and time to do so. Why don’t WE do our share? It doesn’t hurt to help.
Everybody knows eating in the floor is not allowed…but we still do it. Fine, we all have scheduled breaks but when our stomach grumbles WE just have to eat. We can always pop a candy in our mouths to just get by until we reach our scheduled break time. Again, it wouldn’t hurt to sacrifice a little bit for the greater good.
Then you see the roving guards. I’m sure most of us just notice them when we need the temperature of the air condition adjusted or when they call us in our stations because we had food delivered. They are more than that. They maintain security to our site. Don’t be mad if they have to check your bags everyday you come in the site, or let you know you’re not allowed to eat on the floor…and so on and so forth. So, don’t fret to let them know of any unusual or suspicious events. They would definitely work on your complaint una pronto! Again, a little smile or a “hi” won’t hurt…they are people too.
The next people who are very visible are the following:
IT
HR
Work Force and Strategic Support
Facilities and Administration
Finance
Training
QA
These groups work behind the scenes 24/7. Although you have to understand some of them have schedules. We need to remember to respect that. We also have days off that we cherish…just like the rest of you.
Everyone is a hero in our own little way. I guess what I’m driving at is we each deserve the utmost respect. We understand we all have our good or bad days. When you think about it, we’re actually here because we like who we work with and we’re getting the best we are entitled to (right?). If you think you’re not, we always have the open door policy and we do think out of the box. Don’t be afraid to let us know what we can do for you to make things better.
Just remember, we’re here for you and we hope you help us as well. We weren’t born super heroes, we need you too. “It works if YOU work it!” Cheers!
