SITUATION: “Hi, I am reading all the posting regarding anything to do with the Call Centers & have also visited many web sites for the job hunters like Willow, etc. But it is still not clear for me, as to how do i start to get a job as an agent. Where do i start from, do i need to get some training 1st. If someone can give me a brief & guide me thru this. Thanks!” – Deepa
Most companies have their own training programs to help a new agent like yourself get oriented to the industry. Also, you will be included in different classes starting from general customer service, accent neutralization (if needed), product specifics and practice on the phones.
A simple list would be:
1. Research! Submit your resume’ to call centers that have the financial backing and not just a start up, unless of course it is a global company setting up in your area.
2. Go through the interviews and ask questions regarding the time of work, compensation, type of the account you’re going to be hired in. Two simple types would be inbound programs (receiving calls from customers) and outbound (telemarketing, surveys or plainly calling people up for a purpose).
3. Choose what type your prefer because this could mean less stress for you when you join in.
4. Start training and you’re on your way.
It’s really simple. It doesn’t take much to be an agent unless you’re aiming for a specialized program. Make sure you learn as much as you can and be a sponge once you are hired. You’ll know sooner or later whether it is the job you’d like to pursue.
The hiring process for a call center agent is one of the most important aspects of managing a call center. We use special tools to help our managers understand the strengths of an applicant. We never want to hire a person just becuase we need to put a body in a call center seat. That never helps the client, our company or the person that we hired.
